Visit Hauck Botanic Gardens

The Civic Garden Center's horticultural principles are reflected in the space we call home: Hauck Botanic Gardens. This 10-acre public park, which we co-manage with the Cincinnati Parks Department, is an important urban greenspace, a habitat for insects and wildlife, and home to numerous demonstration gardens, educational spaces, a production vegetable garden, and a diverse collection of trees. The plants and trees found here tell the story of the park's horticultural evolution, from the heritage collection of ornamentals and exotics planted by Cornelius Hauck in the early twentieth century to the more recent native plant installations and rain gardens. We are also an ArbNet Level 1 Accredited Arboretum. (Curious what our plant collection looks like? We’re in the process of cataloging it. You can see the ever-evolving list here!)

Our top goal at Hauck is to create an outdoor educational space for students and local residents on a wide range of environmental and gardening topics. Our grounds give us and our volunteers a space to experiment with gardening practices and long-term land management approaches.

Come for a Visit

Hauck Botanic Gardens is open every day from dawn until dusk, and you are welcome to visit. We also run a free monthly arboretum tour on the third Thursday of each month (see our calendar for dates). Every season offers plenty to see on our grounds, from flowering plants to green infrastructure installations. Use the signage to take a self-guided tour or find one of our knowledgeable staff members to answer your questions or provide more information.

Tour or Rent Our Grounds

Our facilities are also open to tour and rent! Visit our event rentals page or contact our Administrative & Facilities Manager, Stephanie Fransen, at (513) 221-0981 or sfransen@civicgardencenter.org for more information.

Volunteer at Hauck

We couldn't maintain Hauck Botanic Gardens without the ongoing help of our volunteers. We have opportunities for individuals and groups, no experience required. We would love for you to join us!
