Kerria japonica ‘Pleniflora’
Japanese Kerria
Native to China and Japan, this slender arching shrub produces yellow flowers in spring.
The pleniflora cultivar has double-petal flowers that look like pom poms.
It grows upright to about 8 feet tall.
Kerria prefers partial shade and moist, rich soil.
It can spread through suckers if not pruned back.
Drought tolerant and deer resistant.
Horticulturist’s Notes: Kerria blooms on old wood, so pruning should be done in the spring, after flowers fade.
