  • A classic garden plant with hundreds of cultivars.

  • Bearded iris originates from Europe and Asia.

  • It does best in full sun and rich, well-drained soil.

  • Late spring flowers come in a rainbow of colors, but violet is the most common.

  • Typically reaches 3 feet tall and wide.

  • Deer resistant. Toxic to people and pets. 

  • Horticulturist’s Notes: Irises are easy to divide any time after flowering. Cut foliage down to four inches and separate rhizomes into chunks that include both roots and leaves. Replant soon and water thoroughly.
