Hakonechloa macra 'Beni-kaze'

A bamboo-like perennial grass that is native to the mountains of Japan.
Prefers full to part shade and moist soil.
It grows 1-2 feet tall and will spread through underground rhizomes, although it is not aggressive.
Foliage is semi evergreen but should be cut back in late winter to encourage fresh growth.
This cultivar has dark green leaves.
Deer resistant and tolerant of urban conditions.
