Clumping bamboo, also called hardy bamboo, is native to the mountains of western China.
It is an evergreen variety that can reach 10 feet tall and wide but does not spread in the landscape.
Prefers partial shade and rich, well-drained soil.
It can struggle in hot, humid climates but does well in the Cincinnati area with adequate shade.
Drought tolerant and deer resistant.
