Hands On at Hauck

  • Civic Garden Center 2715 Reading Rd Cincinnati, OH, 45206 United States (map)

Join CGC Horticulturist Julie for some hands-on gardening experience at the Hauck Botanic Garden. This 100-year-old public park serves as our outdoor classroom and the backdrop for everything we do. And it’s all thanks to volunteers like you!

At a Hands On at Hauck educational workday, you’ll learn the basics of year-round garden maintenance: planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, watering, seed collecting and more. Then you’ll work with other volunteers to accomplish garden-related projects and keep our park beautiful. This Friday, we’ll be revisiting the future home of our new Butterfly Garden to do some final site preparation, as well as tackling some more of that pesky English Ivy! Then we’ll learn what to do with all those leaves that are piling up in the lawn (hint: it WON’T involve black trash bags).

No prior knowledge or skills needed. Whether you’re totally new to gardening or have many years of experience this workday is for you! The ability to kneel and use hand tools is recommended but not required.

Please bring gloves if you have them and a water bottle. Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes you’re comfortable getting dirty. All other tools and materials will be provided.

Detailed information will be sent to registered participants, so keep an eye out for your confirmation email!

Want to join us? Make sure you’re registered as a CGC volunteer, then…
