Compost Pro
The Civic Garden Center's Compost Pro training is a six-part series open to anyone wanting to advance their composting skills and knowledge. The goal of the program is to build a composting knowledge base in the Cincinnati region.
Participants will walk away knowing:
How to implement their own compost system
What's happening with composting in Cincinnati
Why composting is important and relevant in combating the climate crisis
Program Information
Compost Pro includes 10 hours of classroom instruction, 10 hours of field study and the opportunity to earn certification upon perfect attendance and completion of 30 volunteer hours.
This year, we’ll be running Compost Pro in a hybrid format over six sessions. A mix of virtual and in-person lectures will occur over four Wednesday evenings in October, with four in-person field trips scheduled over two Saturdays.

Wednesday, October 4, 5:30-8pm (virtual): Food Waste and Cincinnati Compost History
Saturday, October 7, 9:30am-2:30pm (in person): Field trips to Walnut Hills bioreactor site and Green Acres
Wednesday, October 11, 5:3o-8pm (virtual): Composting Rules & Regulations and Backyard Composting
Wednesday, October 18, 5:30-8pm (virtual): Vermicompost and Bokashi
Saturday, October 21, 9:30am-2:30pm (in person): Field trips TBA
Wednesday, October 25, 5:30-8pm (in person): Current Initiatives Panel
