What’s an “Active Volunteer”?

Active CGC volunteers can take many of our classes for free or at a discounted rate. (We send the promo code out in our monthly Volunteer HQ emails, which go to registered volunteers.) But what, exactly, counts as “active”?

  • Horticulture Team: Volunteers who attend an average of at least one horticulture event per month are considered active.

  • Conservation Team: Volunteers who attend at least three CGC-led conservation events per year are considered active.

  • Urban Ag Team: Volunteers who attend an average of at least one event per month from June to September are considered active. (If you’re a community gardener, see below.)

  • Education Team: Volunteers who participate in an average of at least two programs per month are considered active.

  • Events & Outreach Team: Volunteers who attend planning meetings when possible and participate in at least one major CGC event per year are considered active.

  • Mix & Match: Volunteers who attend at least six events across teams per year are considered active.

Community gardeners who coordinate or have an active plot in a CGC-affiliated garden are also considered active volunteers. (We send the promo code out quarterly in our community gardens newsletter.)

Learn more about our teams and register as a CGC volunteer on our Volunteer page. If you’re already registered, check our calendar for upcoming opportunities!
